Toast the Holiday Season with the Senior Center
German Christmas Market and Insiders’ Art Show to be Held on Nov. 3
October 31, 2017
Say "hallo" to the holiday season this weekend with the second annual German Christmas Market and Beer Garden. Hosted by Tallahassee Senior Services and sponsored by Capital Regional Medical Center, the German Christmas Market and Beer Garden will take place on Friday, Nov. 3, from 4-9 p.m. at the Tallahassee Senior Center, located at 1400 N. Monroe Street. The fun, German-inspired event will feature food, brews and handmade crafts by local artists & vendors.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the occasion, donning their Lederhosen and Dirndl. As they peruse the German Christmas Market picking up holiday gifts for friends and family members, artful music performed by Gesundheit, a German Polka band, will set the evening's tone. Admission into the market is free.
At 5 p.m., participants will get a special treat as the beer garden opens. Coupled with themed foods like bratwurst and Bavarian pretzels, the garden will feature beer from local breweries, including DEEP Brewing Company, Lake Tribe Brewing Company and Tally Brewing Company. To access the beer garden, participants must purchase a $15 ticket and be 21 years of age or older. Pretzels and music for the night are sponsored by For the Table Hospitality and Home Instead Senior Care. The beer garden closes promptly at 9 p.m.

After enjoying bratwurst and beer, participants can escape to a quieter evening with the Insiders' Art Show, which will take place the same night from 6-8 p.m. in the second-floor auditorium of the Senior Center. The art exhibit features various works from 50 senior artists whose work includes oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels. Like the crafts from the German Christmas Market, these art pieces will be for sale and can be purchased on site. For more information on the Insiders' Art Show, call 891-4016 or email leslie.puckett@talgov.com.
Participants who couldn't get enough of the German Christmas Market on Friday, Nov. 3, are in for a treat this year because the following morning, Saturday, Nov. 4, the market will be open once again from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To get the best pieces, it's encouraged to visit the market on Friday night. The market on Saturday morning will not feature the beer garden.
The next opportunity to celebrate the holidays is Deck the Halls. This unforgettable event will take place on Friday, Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. Tickets for the event are $45 and are available for purchase at TallahasseeSeniorFoundation.org. Proceeds from Deck the Halls benefit Tallahassee Senior Services, which offers classes, concerts and more throughout the year. Consider hosting your office party at Deck the Halls! Discounts available for 6 or more tickets!
