Suspected Thief's Hideout Didn't "Work Out" So Well

Tallahassee Police Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at an apartment complex located at 1824 Green Tree Lane on November 26, 2017 at 11:07 p.m. When officers arrived, they located a male named Justin Evans inside the complex gym. Officer discovered Mr. Evans had been living in the gym for a short time and he had an active warrant for his arrest. After discovering drugs, electronics, credit cards with different names, and other items in Mr. Evans' possession, officers conducted an extensive investigation which led the discovery of numerous stolen articles belonging to multiple victims in the area. The stolen items came from residential and vehicle burglaries in the apartment complex and residences in close proximity to the gym.
Officers worked extensively to research the items in Mr. Evans' possession and were able to match items with seven different burglary cases. Mr. Evans was also charged with providing a false name, possession of cannabis and a Schedule II controlled substance. The investigator in charge of the case is asking anyone who believes they are a victim of burglary, but have not reported it, to please call TPD at (850) 891-4200.
