From Perfect Score to Pre-Check Success, TLH Soars
February 27, 2018
Good news has landed at the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH).
During its recent annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Certification/Safety Inspection, TLH received a perfect score. Each year, the Federal Aviation Administration inspects every commercial service airport over a two-to-three-day period. Airport Safety, Wildlife Hazard Management, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), Runway and Taxiway Paved Areas, Runway and Taxiway Safety Areas, Pavement Markings, Airfield Signage and Lighting, the Airport Emergency Plan, Self-Inspection Program, Personnel Training Records, Various Airfield Management and Documentation issues are evaluated. With such an intensive inspection, it is rare that no discrepancies are found.
"The Airport is extremely proud of this accomplishment and remains committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety and security for our patrons, visitors and tenants," said David Pollard, Interim Director of Aviation.
This perfect score adds to the recent accomplishments at TLH. Earlier this month, a new direct flight began from TLH to Ronald Reagan Washington Airport (DCA) in Washington, D.C. This new travel option, offered by American Airlines, creates a vital capital to capital connection, which will save travelers time.
Additionally, the recent Transportation Security Administration pre-check enrollment center was a success, with hundreds of local travelers signing up. Those who didn't have a chance to enroll yet will be happy to know that future dates for another temporary enrollment center at TLH are being considered.
Through its focus on safe operations, upgraded amenities and an enhanced traveler experience, TLH is seeing growth. The latest passenger traffic numbers show an 8.2 percent increase for January 2018 compared to January 2017, and fiscal year-to-date numbers are up 7.5 percent above this time last year.
The Tallahassee International Airport is owned and operated by the City of Tallahassee.
