Update
Investigators from TPD's Violent Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the officer involved shooting, which occurred at 2226 Mission Road last night. At this time, they are releasing the name of the officer involved who has been placed on paid administrative leave. The TPD work history for Officer Clifford Crouch is attached to this release.
TPD’s Violent Crimes & Forensic Units are continuing to work all avenues of the investigation and follow up with any identified witnesses. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
Original Release
The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating an officer involved shooting at 2226 Mission Road. The incident occurred late Monday night, March 12, 2018 at 9:47 p.m. A TPD patrol officer was responding to a burglary in progress call reported by a citizen to the Consolidated Dispatch Agency. The preliminary investigation shows the officer arrived at the location of the burglary and encountered a person they believed was armed with a firearm. Fearing for their safety, the officer fired their department issued handgun. There were no reported injuries at the time of the shooting.
As is standard procedure, the officer has been placed on administrative leave and a full investigation is being conducted by TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit. At this time they are interviewing all known witnesses and processing the scene.
