April 23, 2018
Thanks to its employees’ diligence and dedication, the City of Tallahassee’s Natural Gas Utility recently received an excellent annual safety evaluation by the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC). This two-week evaluation included extensive review of the Gas Utility’s documentation and field work.
As part of the evaluation, the auditor reviewed multiple Gas Utility plans, including the Operation and Maintenance Plan, Emergency Operation Plan and Damage Prevention Plan, among others; all the plans were found to exceed auditor expectations.
Additionally, field evaluations were completed for many of the utility’s programs, such as the Critical Valve Maintenance Program, Leak Survey Program and New Construction Program.
In another recent example of excellence by the City’s Gas Utility, the American Public Gas Association awarded it the Gold Level System Operational Achievement Recognition (SOAR). This marks the second time that the Gas Utility has been awarded SOAR’s top-level recognition and was the first time any recipient received a perfect score. The Gas Utility is the only national gas system to obtain consecutive gold level recognitions.
For more than 60 years, the City of Tallahassee's Natural Gas Utility has provided clean, safe, economical and reliable natural gas to residents and businesses in a growing service area.
