Shining Seniors Receive Recognition at Silver Stars Gala
Tallahassee Senior Services to Honor Exceptional Service on May 24
May 03, 2018
Tallahassee's brightest and most influential seniors will be honored at the 17th annual Silver Stars Gala on Thursday, May 24. The Gala, which is the community's premier senior recognition event, centers around "Silver Stars," who are individuals that positively contribute to the community and exemplify active aging. This year, eight individuals will be recognized for their contemporary outlook, active lifestyle and dedication to others.
This year's Silver Stars award recipients are Ann Cleare; Nancy Godette; Mabel Huffman; Tennie Jackson; Charles B. Nam, Ph.D.; Andy McMullian; Rev. Dr. Henry Marion Steele, LLD; and Eddie Randolph.
While each of the Silver Stars has a unique and rich past, they will all be recognized at the Gala for their contributions beyond the age of 60. Four of the award recipients actively work in real estate, while others publish books, tailor clothes and assist with health and wellness. Each of the Silver Stars contribute their time to serving others and volunteering for community organizations.
In addition to honoring the Silver Stars, long-time volunteers with Tallahassee Senior Services will be recognized.
The Silver Stars Gala will take place on Thursday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at the University Center Club at Florida State University (FSU). Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased for $40/single, $75/couple and $360 for a table of 10. To purchase tickets, please call 891-4003.
