TPD responds to shooting on Hillsborough Street (updated)

On June 29 at approximately 9:34 pm, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Hillsborough Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Leon County Emergency Medical Services and Tallahassee Fire Department responded to perform lifesaving measures, sadly the victim succumbed to their injuries. The Tallahassee Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit and Forensic Technician responded to process the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
The case has been assigned to TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please give them a call at (850) 891-4200 or Crimes Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
Update (6/30/18)
As the investigation continues, the Tallahassee Police Department is releasing the name of the victim in the shooting incident in the 2000 block of Hillsborough Street. The victim has been identified as Eric D. Thomas. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Thomas’s Family.
TPD’s Violent Crimes Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and process evidence. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident but didn’t not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about the shooting to please call (850) 891-4200 or if they wish to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
