City to Construct New Sidewalk on Tallahassee’s Southside
New Sidewalk on Palmetto Street Coming Soon
September 19, 2018
This week, the City of Tallahassee will begin construction on a new sidewalk on Palmetto Street between South Adams Street and South Boulevard Street near Florida A&M University’s campus.
The City is taking every precaution to ensure that several Live Oaks located in the area remain healthy during construction. The sidewalk will be built behind the trees along Palmetto Street, and an arborist will be onsite throughout construction. Additionally, the sidewalk will be built above ground to avoid disrupting the tree roots.
Construction is expected to have minimal impact to vehicular traffic; however, pedestrians walking to and from the student housing complex nearby may have to adjust their route. The new sidewalk is expected to be complete in December.
