Celebrate America Recycles Day with Cans for Cash
Annual Event Takes Place on Saturday, Nov. 17
November 13, 2018
Finished with your soda? Don't throw your can away; instead, make a dash to the Cans for Cash event. In an ongoing effort to reduce waste and landfill space, the City of Tallahassee and Keep Tallahassee Beautiful are teaming up again to host this annual recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot on the Outdoor Living side of Home Depot, located at 3200 Capital Circle NE.
Participants will receive 30 cents per pound for aluminum cans. All aluminum cans collected at the event will be transported to a local recycling business for processing. Types of aluminum cans that will be accepted include beverage cans. Soup cans typically are made of metal, not aluminum; therefore, they will not be accepted as part of this event but can be recycled through your single-stream recycling container.
The City encourages residents to recycle. With single-stream recycling, there's no need to sort your items; simply place recyclables in your collection barrel and roll it to the curb for pickup. Residential recycling is picked up once a week on the same day as garbage. Learn more about what can be recycled in Tallahassee in the Single Stream Recycling Guide on Talgov.com.
Cans for Cash is held in observance of America Recycles Day, which is on Thursday, Nov. 15.
