Arrests made for Hit and Run Crash (updated)

On January 2, 2019 TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit began investigating a hit and run crash resulting in a bicyclist suffering with serious bodily injuries. With the assistance of the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office, the vehicle was found submerged in a lake in Jefferson County. The vehicle’s owner Agustin Ramones later reported the vehicle as being stolen. Investigators also discovered that Darelene Berryman assisted Agustin Ramones with discarding the vehicle. After consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, probable cause was established to charge Agustin Ramones and Darlene Berryman in connection with the hit and run. Ms. Berryman turned herself in to the Jefferson County Jail. Mr. Ramones was captured by the U.S. Marshals in Leigh Acres, Florida and transported to the Lee County Jail. The Tallahassee Police would like to thank all those who assisted with this investigation.

Original Press Release TPD Investigates Traffic Crash on North Monroe Street, 1/3/19 12 p.m.
TPD is currently investigating a traffic crash which occurred near the intersection of North Monroe Street and Lakeshore Drive involving a vehicle and bicycle. A SUV was observed traveling north bound before striking the bicyclist and fleeing the scene onto the I-10 eastbound on ramp. The suspect vehicle was described as a white unknown make or model SUV with dark tinted windows, with possible damage to the front bumper.
The bicyclist involved in the accident was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Traffic Homicide Investigators were called to the scene and have assumed the investigation. TPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the accident to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
This is currently an active investigation and TPD will provide updates when they are available.
