TPD Investigates Death on Joe Louis Street (Updated 1/17/19)

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a death near 1700 Joe Louis Street. At approximately 5:45 a.m. officers arrived on scene to find a deceased person lying in the roadway. This case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.

TPD Identifies Joe Louis Street Shooter
On Sunday, January 13, 2019, at 5:45 am TPD responded to 1700 Joe Louis Street reference a deceased person lying near the roadway. It was later discovered the victim succumbed from a gunshot wound. TPD's Violent Crimes Unit began to investigate the death and spoke with many witnesses and gathered various pieces of evidence. After an extensive follow-up, warrants were obtained to charge Preston Hikeem Hart for the murder of the victim.
Investigators are seeking assistance in locating Preston Hart who is considered armed and dangerous, and citizens are asked to please call (850) 891-4200 regarding his whereabouts. Citizens may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.

TPD Arrest Joe Louis Street Murder Suspect
The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested Preston Hikeem Hart for the murder that occurred near 1700 Joe Louis Street. TPD’s Career Criminal Unit observed Hart walking near the Leon County Detention Facility before placing him into custody and taken inside for booking. The Tallahassee Police Department would like to thank all those who assisted the Violent Crimes Unit with this investigation.
