Reckless Driver Arrested After Brief Pursuit

On January 13, 2019 at 9:12 p.m., Tallahassee Police officers responded to a disturbance at Wal-Mart located at 4400 West Tennessee Street. Officers observed a male throwing personal items from his vehicle into the parking lot. As the officers attempted to speak with the male, he suddenly drove his vehicle forward, striking a Wal-Mart employee. The vehicle continued onto Capital Circle Northwest and West Tennessee Street driving recklessly in the wrong direction, back into the Wal-Mart parking lot where numerous citizens were gathered and back onto West Tennessee Street toward Appleyard Drive.
A short vehicle pursuit ensued in order to stop the immediate threat to people in the area. TPD officers performed a P.I.T. (Precision Intervention Technique) to safely stop the vehicle on Municipal Way. Christopher Parks was arrested in the vehicle and charged with multiple offenses including Hit and Run with Injuries and Reckless Driving. The Wal-Mart employee sustained minor injuries after being hit by the vehicle. Two TPD patrol vehicles had minimal damage. Mr. Parks was transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing.
