Active Living Expo This Week
Annual Event Connects Seniors and Caregivers with Community Resources
January 23, 2019
The 20th annual Active Living Expo will be held this Thursday and Friday, Jan. 24-25, at the Tallahassee Senior Center, located at 1400 N. Monroe St. Coordinated by Tallahassee Senior Services, the two-day expo seeks to connect those interested in active aging with health and community resources. Nearly 100 exhibitors will be on-hand at the expo, offering interactive displays, hands-on demonstrations and health screenings.
The Active Living Expo will take place on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday, Jan. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The expo is open to the public, and the $3 admission ticket is good for both days. Complimentary valet parking will also be available.
“The Active Living Expo is a one-stop shop for seniors and caregivers,” Mayor Pro Tem Curtis Richardson said. “The information and resources provided are invaluable in keeping our community’s growing population of older adults active, independent and well.”
In addition to featuring a wide-range of information from retirement planning to in-home services, the expo will highlight initiatives that make Tallahassee an AARP Age-Friendly Community. These initiatives include health, housing and transportation. Workshops about each of these areas will be held throughout the expo.
Partners for this year’s Active Living Expo include Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and others. For workshop details, call 891-4008 or email kristy.carter@talgov.com.
