City Commission to hold Budget Workshop

The Tallahassee City Commission will hold a workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, second floor, City Hall, 300 South Adams Street.
The workshop will focus on the Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) First Quarter Update. The quarterly budget update serves to increase transparency and community involvement in the budget process, while providing dedicated time for the City Commission to discuss the status of the prior quarter, issues affecting the remainder of the fiscal year and assumptions impacting the preparation of the next fiscal year budget.
Information about the City’s financials is available through OpenGov and the City’s online budget, both accessible through Talgov.com.
The development process for the FY20 budget will include many opportunities for public engagement and input, including the following:
- May 15, City Commission workshop at 1 p.m. – FY20 Budget Discussion and FY19 Second Quarter Budget Update
- June 5, City Commission workshop at 1 p.m. – FY20 Budget Plan
- July 10, City Commission workshop at 1 p.m. – FY20 Tentative Millage Plan and FY19 Third Quarter Budget Update
- September 11, regular City Commission meeting at 4 p.m. (public hearings begin at 6 p.m.) – FY20 First Public Hearing and Approval
- September 25, regular City Commission meeting at 4 p.m. (public hearings begin at 6 p.m.) – FY20 Final Budget Public Hearing and Approval
