TPD Investigates Shooting Near Gibbs Drive

TPD Arrest Gibbs Drive Murder Suspect
TPD has arrested Antonio Conyers in connection with the death investigation near Gibbs Drive. The investigation revealed that the deceased and Conyers were in a verbal altercation while in a vacant lot of 1021 Central Street. During the argument Conyers retrieved a long-barreled pellet gun and fired a single shot striking the victim in the chest. The victim then walked to the intersection of Gibbs Drive and Alice Jackson Lane before collapsing.
It was discovered that Conyers had 2 outstanding capiases for failure to pay child support. Conyers was taken into custody at 734 West 7th Avenue by members of the Community Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving squad and Career Criminal Unit and transported to TPD for questioning. After consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, probable cause was established to charge Conyers with 2nd Degree Murder. Conyers was then transported to the Leon County Detention Facility. TPD would like to thank all those who assisted with this investigation.

At approximately 1:00 pm the TPD responded to the intersection of Gibbs Drive and Alice Jackson reference a subject having breathing problems. Upon the officer’s arrival they discovered that subject was suffering from a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
