TPD Arrest Carjacking Suspects

On June 15, 2019 at approximately 11:53 pm officers responded to 491 West Tennessee Street (Popeyes) reference a carjacking. The victim advised that they were approached by two armed subjects while in the parking lot of the business. In fear, the victim exited the vehicle before the suspects fled the area with the victim’s vehicle. Officers located the vehicle traveling in the Bond neighborhood and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle began to flee and a pursuit was initiated. While traveling eastbound on Capital Circle Southwest the passenger, later identified as Samuel Griffin, exited the vehicle and ran into the wood line. With the assistance of the Leon County Sherriff’s Office’s helicopter, Griffin was found and placed into custody. The vehicle continued to flee and was tactically stopped in the parking lot of the Leon County Fairgrounds, were the driver Jason Williams was taken into custody. It was also discovered that Williams had an active warrant for battery. Both Williams and Griffin were transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
