TPD Investigates Shooting at Jack McLean Park

Arrest Made for Jack McLean Park Shooting
TPD has arrested Omar Franklin in connection with the shooting at Jack McLean Park. It was learned several people were attending a vigil for the Regal Cinemas homicide victim. During that time Franklin accidently fired a weapon striking the victim/acquaintance. The victim was immediately taken to a local hospital by other attendees.
On September 9, 2019 Franklin turned himself into an SRO Deputy working at a local high school. After consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, Franklin was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center for the below charge.
It should be noted that this case was not a retaliation shooting.

On Sunday September 8, 2019 at approximately 10:17 p.m. TPD responded to a shooting at Jack McLean Park, 700 Paul Russell Road. Before emergency personal arrived on scene, the gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threating injuries.
