Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Brief Standoff
February 09, 2020
Around 12:30am this morning, The Tallahassee Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Golf Terrace Drive to investigate a stabbing which had just occurred. The suspect asked the victim for a cigarette, and the victim provided one. For unknown reasons, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, causing a minor injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect then fled back to his apartment in the 2500 block of South Meridian Street. Officers attempted to make contact there, and although they could see the suspect moving around inside the apartment, he refused to come out.
The on-scene investigation revealed the suspect may have had a firearm in the apartment, so TPD’s armored vehicle was brought to the scene. Around 2:30am, officers were able to determine he did not likely have immediate access to a firearm and entered the apartment. He refused commands to surrender and was taken into custody after a TASER was used to subdue him.
