Update - March 12
As a precaution for preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Tallahassee has announced that the 11th annual Capital City Senior Games will not be open to the public.
Original Release - March 2
On Thursday, March 5, the City of Tallahassee’s 11th annual Capital City Senior Games will officially commence with the lighting of a ceremonial torch. The annual Torch Run, which marks the games’ official start, will take place at 6 p.m. in Cascades Park, 1001 S. Gadsden St.
During the Torch Run, competing seniors will light the torch and walk it around the beautiful, downtown park. Friends and family members of those competing in this year’s games, as well as the public, are invited to attend the Torch Run. Attendees are encouraged to bring uplifting support posters to help cheer on the participants.
Every year, hundreds of active adults age 50+ compete in the Capital City Senior Games. The goal of the games, which take place from March 5-16, is to help keep Tallahassee’s senior population active and healthy.
