Chief Revell Announces Creation of Youth Citizens Advisory Council
March 05, 2020
Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell announced the creation of a Youth Citizens Advisory Council to enhance communication flow between the youth of the community and the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD). Applications to serve on the committee are currently being accepted and will beaccepted through Friday, March 20, 2020 at 5 p.m.
The creation of a council involving youth and TPD working together on current issues concerning youth and engaging in positive dialogue is a top priority for Chief Revell. The information flow between youth and the police department is critical as it promotes trust and understanding between officers and local youth while establishing broad-based support for the overall safety of our community.
“Many times young people are overlooked as a source of insightful input regarding crime and safety, especially when it pertains to why some young people are engaging in crime. Developing positive relationships and trust between community youth and police is instrumental in unifying our youth into a positive force for community safety and reducing juvenile crime. I look forward to watching this team of young leaders provide a positive impact in the community,” Chief Revell said.

The council will promote serious dialogue between TPD and Tallahassee youth as they discuss current and relative issues of mutual concern. The council will advise the Chief of Police on current issues of importance concerning the youth and present solutions promoting a safe environment for all youth. Working together, the council will encourage a crime-free lifestyle by incorporating principles of teamwork, trust, and communication.
