Crash and Road Closure on West Tennessee Street at White Drive (update)

The driver was traveling westbound on West Tennessee Street in the area of White Drive approaching Dixie Dr when they swerved to avoid what they believed to be an imminent crash. Their vehicle left the roadway and struck a 45-year-old woman who was pushing a stroller with a young child in it. Both the woman and the stroller had been on the sidewalk when the collision occurred. The woman died at the scene and the child was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
There are elements of this case which are still under active investigation, and there is no more information to release at this time.

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians at West Tennessee Street and White Drive. The crash occurred at approximately 8:00pm. All westbound traffic on West Tennessee Street will be closed at White Drive and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
This crash is currently still under investigation and there are no more details to release at this time.
Traffic Homicide Investigators have been called to the scene and have assumed the investigation. TPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the accident to please call 850-891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
