City Launches 2020 Neighborhood Awards Program
Applications Now Being Accepted for Neighborhood of the Year and Other Categories

This has been a year unlike any other and despite the challenges COVID-19 has presented, Tallahassee residents continue to find ways to further enhance their neighborhoods and the community. To celebrate the vibrant, diverse neighborhoods that contribute to Tallahassee’s unique charm and recognize the people, programs and accomplishments that helped to strengthen individual neighborhoods and the community overall, the City of Tallahassee is launching its 2020 Neighborhood Awards program.
Neighborhoods located within the City limits are encouraged to submit an application outlining their efforts from 2019 and 2020 to bring about positive change within the community. To apply and be considered for the awards, visit Talgov.com/NeighborhoodAwards. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 18.
The 2020 Neighborhood Awards program includes recognition in the following categories:
- Best Social Neighborhood Improvement – A project focused on enhancing the social or cultural aspects of a neighborhood (safety, youth and/or senior program, programs that foster teamwork, etc.)
- Best Physical Neighborhood Improvement – A project focused on enhancing the physical aspects of a neighborhood (parks, lighting, litter control, housing improvements, etc.)
- Neighbor of the Year – Individual who has exemplified the characteristics of leadership and service in making contributions to the community
- Small Neighborhood of the Year – Neighborhood with 200 homes or fewer that has facilitated improvements in their area that have positively impacted the community in some way
- Large Neighborhood of the Year – Neighborhood with more than 200 homes that has facilitated improvements in their area that have positively impacted the community in some way
