TPD Makes Arrest After Weekend Carjacking

On Nov. 14, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a call in the 800 block of Ocala Road in reference to a carjacking. The victim was getting out of his car when the suspect approached and began to attack him without provocation. The victim was punched in the face before he fell to the ground. Once the victim was on the ground, the suspect took the victim’s keys from his pocket and drove off in the victim’s vehicle.
At midnight on Nov. 15, just hours after the first carjacking, there was a call for an attempted carjacking in the 2400 block of West Pensacola Street. A description of the suspect was given to TPD’s patrol officers, who located the suspect nearby. Probable cause was established for the suspect’s arrest, and during the investigation, evidence was located tying him to the earlier incident as well.

Arrested:
Travious Phillips, 29, for robbery without firearm or weapon, grand theft of motor vehicle, robbery carjacking without firearm or weapon, possession of stolen driver’s license or ID card and possession of a controlled substance without prescription.
