Tallahassee Fire Department Encounters Fully Involved Structure Fire
December 24, 2020
The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to an abandoned home fire that community members reported on December 23 at 9:14 p.m. via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency.
The CDA received multiple calls about a possible fire in the area of Orange Avenue and Capital Circle SE. Units from TFD stations 1, 2, 3, 6 and 16 responded to the incident, and while responding, other calls came in that it was actually a structure that was on fire.
After locating the structure, units made access to the abandoned home at 2672 Capital Circle SE and found it to be fully involved. Crews spent hours on scene to contain the fire to just the structure. No injuries were reported on scene, and the house is considered to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time.
TFD encourages citizens to be proactive in calling 911 for possible fires and to be ready to give an exact location of the incident. The more precise location provided, the faster first responders can get there. Below is additional information to use in the event you need to call 911.
- When the dispatcher answers, speak clearly and give the following information:
- The type of emergency
- Your name
- Location of the emergency (as best you can provide)
- The number of the phone being used, if known
- Stay on the telephone until the dispatcher tells you to hang up. As you speak with dispatchers, units are being sent out, and you might be asked additional information.
