Property Crimes Task Force Nets Arrests Following String of Vehicle Burglaries
May 06, 2021
Following a thorough and swift investigation, the joint Property Crimes Task Force (PCTF), comprised of the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) and the Leon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), arrested two suspects related to numerous vehicle burglaries.
On April 14, investigators received a report of a vehicle burglary in the 1300 block of San Luis Road in which the suspects fraudulently purchased gift cards at a local business with the stolen credit cards immediately after. Later that day, an additional vehicle burglary was reported in the 6800 block of Beech Ridge Trail with identical circumstances.
Over the next two days, TPD, LCSO, and the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) received numerous reports of vehicle burglaries where the suspects fraudulently purchased gift cards immediately after the burglaries. As the investigation unfolded, it was determined the burglaries were all committed by the same suspects. It was also learned the suspects were on federal probation for previous unrelated charges.
On May 5, the suspects were taken into custody for armed burglary of a conveyance and other burglary related charges. The arrests in this case were the result of collaborative efforts between PCTF and WCSO.
If you see illegal activity, you are urged to report it by calling TPD at 850-891-4200. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
