Community Invited to Florida's First Family Day on Nov. 26

Tallahassee-Leon County is the first community in Florida to recognize Family Day, an annual holiday that celebrates the importance of all families, togetherness, support and love. On November 26, the Friday following Thanksgiving, residents and visitors alike can celebrate Family Day by spending time with loved ones and neighbors at the Family Day at Railroad Square event or by shopping local at any of the participating businesses and other arts, culture and outdoor locations communitywide.
Family Day at Railroad Square Schedule of Events
Come out to Railroad Square Art District from 1 - 5 p.m. on November 26 for free family portraits, live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family. There will also be several participating small businesses open throughout Railroad Square to give community members the opportunity to support local businesses during the holiday shopping season
Family Day at Railroad Square will have three main areas for activities: the Open Field Set, the Cafe; Set and the Center Square Family Resource Area.
At the Open Field Set, DJ King Green will kick off the event with music beginning at 1 p.m. The Family Fitness Challenge, presented by First Commerce Credit Union and hosted by Chocolate Waisted and Fitness + Friends, will begin at 2 p.m.
The Railroad Square Craft House will serve as the Cafe; Set. Live music will begin at 1 p.m. with Lori Kline, followed by Garnet & Soul at 2 p.m. Then, the lip sync competition begins at 3 p.m. The winning family will be eligible to win $250 and a trophy. Following the lip sync competition, the Soul Collective will perform at 4 p.m.
In the Center Square Family Resource Area, there will be free family holiday photos from 1 - 4 p.m. and a Family Resource Expo for the duration of the event. There will also be a Tallahassee Ford Auto Safety Showcase. Joe Bullard of 96.1 JAMZ will provide music from 1 - 3 p.m. The Family Resource area is presented by Capital Health Plan.
Family Day at Railroad Square was organized by Leon County Government, the City of Tallahassee, Sachs Media, the Council on Culture & Arts (COCA), Soul of Southside Festival TLH and Railroad Square Art District, with support from First Commerce Credit Union, Capital City Bank, Capital Health Plan and Tallahassee Ford/Lincoln.
