Tallahassee Police Make Arrest in Fatal Lake Avenue Shooting
April 29, 2022
Today, April 29, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested one suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred just before 12:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Lake Avenue.
Following a swift investigation by TPD's Violent Crimes Unit, it was determined the shooting resulted from an argument over illegal drug sales. The arrestee subsequently fired multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle and then fled the area. Sadly, the victim, an adult female, succumbed to her injuries on scene.
While conducting proactive patrol in the area, officers observed a vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed following the gunfire and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. The arrestee was subsequently detained and taken to TPD for interviews where detectives developed probable cause to charge the suspect with first degree murder.
This swift arrest is a testament to TPD's tireless efforts and dedication to bringing justice to the victim in this case. If you see something, say something. Report criminal activity by calling TPD at 850-891-4200. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
