Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. with Day of Festivities

To honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the City of Tallahassee will host a day-long celebration on Jan. 16. Events will include the MLK Day Parade, Day of Dialogue and MLK Day Festival, including the dedication of Adderley Amphitheater.
Monday, Jan. 16, join as Tallahassee celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with free, family-friendly events.
- At 12 p.m., the MLK Day Parade kicks off along North Monroe Street. The parade route begins at Call Street and heads south.
- Starting at 2 p.m., enjoy live entertainment, local food vendors and fun with the MLK Day Festival at Cascades Park.
- In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don't know each other; they don't know each other because they have not communicated with each other." From 2:30-4 p.m., broaden your perspective with a screening of the film "Race to be Human" and conversations led by diverse speakers at the annual Day of Dialogue, held at the Parkview at Cascades.
- At 3:30 p.m., a musical tribute featuring works by the Adderley Brothers will lead into the dedication of Adderley Amphitheater, the new name for the amphitheater at Cascades Park.
- From 4:30-6 p.m., end the day of celebration with live entertainment by Tallahassee Nights Live at the Adderley Amphitheater.
