StarMetro to Host Virtual Community Meetings on Feb. 17
Input Sought on Transit Development Plan
February 12, 2021
StarMetro, the City of Tallahassee's mass transit service, invites residents to attend a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17, to help plan for our community's transit future. Two meeting times are available: 10:30 a.m. to noon and 6-7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn more about local transit service and provide input on the community's transportation needs. Registration is available online at Talgov.com/ThinkTransit.
StarMetro is beginning the process to update its 10-year Transit Development Plan (TDP). The TDP is a required document that must be updated annually to receive funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
"Engaging the community in our planning process ensures we have a clear understanding of the future needs of our riders, including where they need to go and what can be done to help them arrive efficiently and safely," said Angela Baldwin, General Manager for StarMetro.
The TDP is being developed alongside a Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA), which focuses more specifically on route performance and rider needs.
To allow stakeholders and riders to be hands-on (virtually) in the process, a "Design Your Own Transit System" feature will be launched through an online survey during the Feb. 17 meetings.
All materials from the virtual community meetings, including the "Design Your Own Transit System" feature, will be available at Talgov.com/ThinkTransit after the meeting.
A second series of virtual community meetings will be held in April 2021.
Once updated with community feedback, the draft TDP plan is expected to be presented to the Tallahassee City Commission for approval this summer, which is required prior to submission to FDOT.
