Community Invited to Grand Celebration for the Completion of the Capital Cascades Trail Segment 3

The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency, City of Tallahassee and Leon County Government invite the community to a grand celebration marking the completion of the Capital Cascades Trail Segment 3. The celebration will take place at the Capital Cascades Trail Market Area, located at the corner of Pinellas Street and FAMU Way.
This event celebrates the completion of a transformative project that enhances the Southside's connectivity, public spaces, recreational opportunities, pedestrian safety and cultural landscape. These improvements further solidify the area as a vibrant thriving economic hub, a popular destination, and a center for creative expression through the History and Culture Trail.
The History and Culture Trail, the final addition to Capital Cascades Trail Segment 3, features over a dozen public artworks and history monuments celebrating the resilient neighborhoods, civil rights leaders, and local economic drivers. Alongside the trail, residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of distinctive amenities including the Skateable Art Park, Hammock Garden, Musical Parklet, splash pad, playground, and more, offering a unique blend of art, history, and recreation.
Event Highlights:
- 1:45 p.m. - Live Jazz Performance: Enjoy a live jazz performance that celebrates the cultural richness of the area performed by local musicians, featuring world renowned musical artist and local resident, Dr. Longineu W. Parsons.
- 2:30 p.m. - Press Conference: Hear from local leaders about the Capital Cascades Trail project and its amenities.
- 3:15 p.m. - Live Wood Sculpting Demonstration by John Birch: Watch as local artist John Birch uses a chainsaw to shape a piece of wood into an artistic masterpiece.
- 4 p.m. - Guided Bus Tour: Explore the entire Capital Cascades Trail Segment 3 with an informative guided tour.
