Convicted Felon with a Firearm Arrested by TPD

On Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2:06 p.m., TPD Patrol Officers responded to a call regarding a male with a handgun at Walmart located at 3535 Apalachee Parkway. A citizen complained the male was fighting over a parking spot with another person and had a gun. Due to a very good description provided by the reporting citizen, officers were able to locate the suspect's unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. Soon after officers arrived, the suspect came out of the store and was identified as Omega Jefferson. An extensive on-scene investigation was conducted and officers located a loaded .40 caliber handgun on Mr. Jefferson, who is a Florida Convicted Felon.
The firearm was impounded at the Tallahassee Police Department as evidence. Mr. Jefferson was transported to the Leon County Receiving Facility for processing. For further details, the probable cause affidavit is attached to this release and has been redacted in accordance with Florida Statute 119.071(2)(e) and 119.071(5)(a).

- Carrying a Concealed Firearm While Unlicensed pursuant to Florida Statute 790.01(2).
- Possession of a Firearm by a Florida Convicted Felon pursuant to Florida Statute 790.23(1A).
- Violation of Probation pursuant to Florida Statute 948.06.
