UPDATE: City to Complete Underground Utility Project in Midtown
June 06, 2019
UPDATE: Due to possibility of inclement weather, the work has been rescheduled to begin on Friday, 8 p.m. June 21 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 24.
The City of Tallahassee is committed to providing quality infrastructure to allow residents and businesses to thrive in our community. As part of a larger water and sewer improvement project in the Midtown area, the City will be completing underground utility work along Beard Street near Thomasville Road. The work requires accessing a manhole on Thomasville Road at the Beard Street intersection. Because Thomasville Road is a state owned and maintained roadway, the Florida Department of Transportation has approved the City to close Thomasville Road at the Beard Street intersection from 8 p.m. on Friday, June 7, through 5 a.m. on Monday, June 10.
Detour routes will be clearly posted, which include using Gadsden Street as a northbound alternative and Monroe Street as a southbound and/or northbound alternative.
