Community Redevelopment Agency Hosts Community Workshops
CRA Seeks Feedback on Frenchtown/Southside Community Redevelopment Plan
May 23, 2019
To engage residents and gather input, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will host two community workshops in preparation for amending and adopting the revised Greater Frenchtown/Southside (GFS) Community Redevelopment Plan by early 2020.
The workshops will take place:
- Monday, June 3, at 6 p.m. at Walker Ford Community Center, 2301 Pasco St.
- Tuesday, June 4, at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Neighborhood Center, 438 W. Brevard St.
Each workshop will begin with a 30-minute presentation by staff, followed by interactive and informative breakout boards around the room where residents can, at their own pace, provide feedback directly about the plan’s various goals. Topic area experts will be at each board for discussion, and the community will be asked to prioritize the plan’s goals.
The revised draft plan proposes 12 goals covering topics from public safety and housing to the arts and historic preservation. The redevelopment plan broadly outlines the community’s priorities identified from previous public meetings and is the governing document which guides how CRA funds could be used.
A proposed timeline for gathering community input, providing the revised plan to the GFS Citizens’ Advisory Committee and the CRA Board for review, and presenting the final revised plan to the City of Tallahassee Commission for adoption will also be discussed.
Residents and property owners within the GFS District are encouraged to attend one of the workshops. If they are unable to attend, there will be additional opportunities to provide feedback online at Talgov.com/CRAduring the month of June.
