Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program

TALLAHASSEE, FL (June 26, 2020) | The City of Tallahassee anticipates applying for Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program (CFHP) funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support long-term mitigation efforts by assisting the State of Florida and its local governments in minimizing or eliminating the risks and reducing losses from future disasters. This program is being administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) thru the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Program. A total of $75,000,000 in funding has been allocated by DEO for the Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program. DEO has identified the following types of structures as critical facilities:
- Potable water facilities
- Wastewater facilities
- Police departments
- Fire departments
- Hospitals
- Emergency operation centers
- Emergency shelters
The City of Tallahassee anticipates submitting applications for eight facilities for a total of $4,124,229.61 in funding through the CDBG-MIT Critical Facility Hardening Program as detailed below:
- Upgrade of Back-up Power at City of Tallahassee Jack McLean Community Center

Total Amount: $638,388.00
- Control Center Upgrades to BP-05 (Bulk Power Substation #5)
Address: 2602-1 Jackson Bluff Road, Tallahassee, FL 32304
Total Amount: $660,000.00
- City of Tallahassee Fleet Facility Wind Hardening and Permanent Backup Power
Address: 400 Dupree St, Tallahassee, FL 32304
Total Amount: $458,341.61
- Tallahassee Fire Department - Station 10 Wind Mitigation
Address: 5323 Tower Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303
Total Amount: $453,000.00
- Tallahassee Fire Department - Station 11 Wind Mitigation
Address: 8752 Centerville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308
Total Amount: $444,000.00
- Tallahassee Fire Department - Station 12 Wind Mitigation

Total Amount: $563,000.00
- Tallahassee Fire Department - Station 13 Wind Mitigation

Comments from the public must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2020. All comments will be considered, and proposed changes will be submitted to DEO. Additional information relating to the proposed projects and applications is available for review by request.
