MLK Day Celebration Parade/ Day of Dialogue/Festival

On January 17, 2022, the City of Tallahassee will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration will include the inaugural MLK Day Parade, the 22nd annual Day of Dialogue and the 8th MLK Day Festival.
Schedule of Downtown Events
- 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Festival welcome and remarks from local dignitaries
- 11:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. - MLK Day Festival - Adams Street from City Hall to the Chain of Parks
- 12:30 p.m. - MLK Day Parade along N. Monroe St.
- 2:30-3:30 p.m. - Day of Dialogue – Adams Street
- 3:30-6 p.m. - Live entertainment by community groups and Tallahassee Nights Live - Adams Street near City Hall
Other Events
- 9-11:30 a.m. - Youth Service Event at Anita Favors Thompson Plaza at Lake Anita
The Rotary Club of Tallahassee Southside, in partnership with the City of Tallahassee, Leon County Schools and Willpower Innovation Network, will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a day of service engaging teens in ninth through twelfth grade in our community. Closures and Detours
MLK Jr. Day celebrations will be held downtown and impact area roadways. Travelers should expect closures and detours in effect between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the day-long festivities. Following the MLK Jr. Parade, portions of downtown roadways will reopen. Closures and detours will include:
- Adams St. from Jefferson St. to Tennessee St.
- Call St., Park Ave. and College Ave. from Duval St. to Calhoun St.
- Monroe St. from Tennessee St. to Gaines St. - closed from 12 p.m -2 p.m.
- Calhoun St. from Apalachee Pkwy to Gaines St. - closed from 12 p.m -2 p.m.
- Westbound Apalachee Pkwy at Franklin Blvd. - closed from 12 p.m -2 p.m.
