Guns and Hoses Battle of the First Responders Basketball Tournament
June 21, 2017
Usually, first responders work together, but on Saturday, June 24, 2017, they'll be temporarily estranged as they face off at the Guns and Hoses Battle of the First Responders Basketball Tournament. Employees with the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD), Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD), Leon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), Florida A & M Police Department (FAMU PD), Leon County Emergency Medical Services (LCEMS) and Tallahassee Community College (TCC) will battle it out on the basketball court. This tournament is coordinated by the Tallahassee Police Athletic League (TPAL). Attending these games is a great way to support programs for local youth.
The community is invited to attend this fun event from 2-8pm at the Tallahassee Community College's Gymnasium, located at 444 Appleyard Drive. There is a $10 entry fee for anyone over the age of 6 to attend all 5 games or a $5 entry fee for anyone over the age of 6 to attend a single game. Concessions will be open during the game.
Game Times are:
- 2:00pm FAMU PD vs LCS
- 3:15pm TCC vs LCEMS
- 4:30pm TFD vs Winner of 2:00pm Game
- 5:45pm TPD vs Winner of 3:15pm
- Game 7:20pm Championship Game
Spectators are encouraged to wear the colors of their favorite first responder team. If you can't pick a side, Special Guns and Hoses- Battle of the First Responders T -shirts will be on sale to show unified support. Shirts cost $15 for adults and $10 for kids. All proceeds from the shirt sales will go directly to TPAL to help youth in our community.
The Police Athletic League is a registered nonprofit organization. TPAL offers recreational and educational programs to local youths ages 7-17, and provides long-term, positive relationships through mentorship.
If you can't attend the game, but would still like a commemorative Guns and Hoses T-shirt, please contact Sgt. Anitra Highland at anitra.highland@talgov.com or 850-891-4302.
