Sadly, the driver of the moped has died as a result of his injuries. As the investigation continues, investigators are releasing the name of the victim and driver in this accident. Police Chief Michael J. DeLeo offers his condolences to the family of Mr. Sun and has them in his thoughts and prayers. TPD investigators are continuing to interview known witnesses and process evidence collected from the crash scene. The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a traffic crash which occurred at West Call Street and Chapel Drive involving a vehicle and a moped. TPD and Emergency responders were called to the scene at about 5:50 p.m. Thursday evening for the accident and immediately provided medical attention to the driver of the moped. The driver of the car involved was evaluated by emergency personnel on scene and released.
Due to the extent of the moped drivers injuries, TPD Traffic Homicide Investigators were called to the scene and have assumed the investigation.There were no other injuries reported and the two drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.
Traffic Homicide Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about the accident to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
