Tallahassee Fire Department Responds to Massive Residential Fire
December 09, 2017
At 6:11 P.M., the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a report of a possible house fire at 8919 Winged Foot Drive. Units from stations 1, 2, 7, 9, 15, as well as members of the Bradfordville Volunteer Department, responded to the residence to investigate. Firefighters arrived within minutes and were met with heavy smoke and flames that had extended through the roof of the 2,400 square foot residence. Crews attempted an aggressive interior attack, but had to withdraw due to the large amount of fire and possible collapse of the building. It was reported to these units that all members of the family had made it outside and everyone was safe. Personnel remained on scene for hours to completely extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported on scene, and damages are estimated to be at $575,000. Leon County EMS and Talquin Electric assisted at the scene as well. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Tallahassee Fire Department at this time. This fire will represent the second red bulb placed on the wreath in TFD’s "Keep the Wreath Green" program.
