Attempted Car Burglary Leads to Shooting

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a shooting which occurred near the intersection of Preservation and Ronds Pointe Dr. around 11:51 p.m.
Off duty officers observed a vehicle burglary in progress near this location and attempted to make contact with the suspects. Upon doing so, the suspect vehicle attempted to flee and struck one of the off duty officers. As a result, off duty officers fired at the suspect vehicle striking it as it drove away. The suspect vehicle was later located at the Shell Gas Station, 1500 Bannermen Road unoccupied. The one off duty officer was taken to a local hospital for non- life threatening injuries. At this time it is unknown if the suspect(s) were injured.
The case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. At this time they are interviewing all known witnesses and processing the scene. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
