TPD Responds to Erratic Male
Burger King located at 1060 West Tennessee Street

On February 10, 2018 at 10:41 p.m., the Tallahassee Police Department responded to Burger King located at 1060 West Tennessee Street in reference to a naked male acting erratically. Upon arrival officers observed the male, identified as Aaron Parker, bleeding and sweating profusely while lying in the median of West Tennessee Street. Fearing Mr. Parker would run into on-coming traffic, officers attempted to persuade him to move to a safer location. During this encounter Mr. Parker continued to show signs of erratic behavior and ignored the officers’ requests.
Other first responders, including emergency medical personnel, were summoned to the scene as Mr. Parker was displaying signs of Excited Delirium. As officers attempted to place Mr. Parker into protective custody under a Marchman Act, he began to run into the roadway. While trying to prevent him from doing so, Mr. Parker began to swing violently, striking one of the officers. Based upon Mr. Parker’s actions, he was subsequently tased and taken into custody. Mr. Parker continued to resist and was given sedatives by EMS. While being transported to a local hospital, Mr. Parker became unresponsive and CPR was administered successfully. Due to the nature of this case it was assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit.
Sadly, Mr. Parker passed away this evening. The case remains an open active investigation. TPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but did not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about this case to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Violent Crimes Unit.
