Investigators from TPD's Violent Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the officer involved shooting, which occurred at 1900 Jackson Bluff Rd. At this time, they are releasing the name of the officer involved who has been placed on paid administrative leave. The TPD work history for Officer Damien Pearson is attached to this release.
TPD's Violent Crimes & Forensic Units are continuing to work all avenues of the investigation and follow up with any identified witnesses. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
Original Release - Saturday, March 17
The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating an officer involved shooting at 1900 Jackson Bluff Rd. The incident occurred Saturday morning, March 17, 2018 at 1:41a.m. A TPD patrol officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked at this location. Upon the officer approaching the vehicle on foot, the vehicle struck the officer. The officer fired at the suspect, striking the vehicle as it fled the scene. The officer was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. At this time, it is unknown if the suspect(s) were injured.
The case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. They are interviewing all known witnesses and processing the scene. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
