TPD Participates in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
April 23, 2019
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled their Annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day for Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted or unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications. The Tallahassee Police Department is committed to keeping our children safe and the drugs out of the hands of individuals who choose to abuse prescription drugs and over the counter medications. We are partnering with the DEA to make this day a success for our community members.
If you have unused or expired prescription medications, please join us at TPD Headquarters, located at 234 East Seventh Avenue on April 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Officers from the Tallahassee Police Department will assist participants in the proper disposal of these dangerous drugs. If citizens are unable to participate on the day of the event, they are welcome to dispose of prescription medication 24 hours a day 7 days a week in the TPD lobby drug disposal bin. Anyone wishing to use the bin can simply bring their expired or unwanted medication in a suitable container and place the drugs into the bin. Due to hygiene and health concerns, the bin will not accept liquids, needles or razors. The medication will be safely destroyed by police personnel.
