TPD Arrests Arcade Robbery Suspect

On April 26, 2019 TPD responded to the Arcade Center at 1889 N. MLK Blvd. for an armed robbery. Officers learned that a male had entered the business during operating hours and manipulated a handgun several times, eventually firing a shot into the ceiling. The suspect demanded everyone get on the ground and for the victim to give him the money. The suspect received over $4,000 of the business's money and fled the scene.
A video of the crime was released and spread through social media. A suspect named "JB" later was developed through tips received from the press release. Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit developed probable cause to charge Johnny Battles, Jr. On May 10, 2019 Battles was observed by patrol officers near the 2700 block of West Pensacola Street and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Battles was taken to TPD headquarters for questioning and later taken to the Leon County Detention Center for booking. TPD would like to thank everyone who assisted with this investigation.
