Investigation Leads to the Arrest of Two in June 26 Homicide

On the evening of June 26, TPD responded to a homicide in the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street.
In the intervening time, investigators with TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit, Technical Operations Unit, and Criminal Intelligence Unit interviewed witnesses and reviewed physical and video evidence. Their investigation led to the identification of suspects Jaylen Showers, 21, and Tre’Shon Bunion, 21.
Showers was arrested on the night of July 8 after a traffic stop by TPD in the 100 block of Dixie Drive. Bunion was arrested on the afternoon of July 9 in the parking lot of the shopping center at 111 South Magnolia Drive by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force.
On the night of the crime, Showers and Bunion arrived at the location with the intent to rob the victim, and the encounter resulted in the victim being shot and killed.
Both have been charged with Homicide While Engaged in Robbery.
