Proactive Patrol Nets Two Arrests
February 18, 2021
On Feb. 17, the Tallahassee Police Department was conducting proactive patrol in the 600 block of West Fourth Avenue to address recent community complaints regarding illegal drug activity in the area.
While conducting the operation, members of the Special Investigations Section witnessed a drug transaction. With assistance from the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Squad, the two subjects involved were detained. Both subjects denied knowledge of any illegal activity or substances. One subject, however, was found to be in possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, and the other had cash. Officers also recovered a hidden stash of the suspected dealer’s cocaine nearby. They were both subsequently arrested.
The illegal sale and use of drugs impact everyone and are often linked with more violent crimes. TPD is committed to directly addressing this type of activity. If you see something, say something by calling TPD at 850-891-4200. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
Arrested:
Thelitus Battles, 25, for the sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church and possession of drug paraphernalia.
James Eggelton, 61, for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
