Suspect Arrested in Fatal Lake Avenue Shooting
June 14, 2021
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) made an arrest in a fatal shooting that occurred on Lake Avenue over the weekend.
On June 12 just after 4 a.m., TPD responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of Lake Avenue. When officers and emergency responders arrived on scene, they located one victim, an adult male.
Following a thorough investigation, TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit determined the shooting started when the victim and arrestee, who were known to each other, got into an argument. The arrestee attempted to rob the victim as the shooting occurred and subsequently fled the scene. Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Within hours of the shooting, investigators identified a suspect in the case. After probable cause was developed, the arrestee was taken into custody on June 13 for first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm.
This swift arrest is a testament to TPD’s tireless efforts and dedication to bringing justice to the victim’s family in this case. TPD reminds you that if you see something, say something.
