June 28, 2021
The Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to two structure fires in the early morning hours on June 28. Just before 4:00 a.m. Monday morning, TFD crews were dispatched to a single-family residence within the 700 block of Alabama Street.
Crews arrived within minutes to find the home with heavy fire showing from the front of the structure. Firefighters made an aggressive fire attack and had the blaze under control within minutes. Firefighters determined everyone was safe and had escaped the blaze.
The fire was ruled accidental and damages are estimated to be $25,000. The Red Cross was called to assist the residents and TFD crews were assisted on scene by Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS.
At 4:53 a.m., TFD crews were dispatched to the report of a possible structure fire located in the area of Katie Lois Road and Blountstown Highway. Within minutes, firefighters were on scene and were met with a large shed fully engulfed with flames that was near a residence.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to the residence. No one was inside the structure and no injuries were reported on scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
