TFD Responds to Residential Fire on Meridian Road

On Jan. 8, at 11:02 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a multi-residential structure fire located on the 2000 block of Meridian Road. TFD crews arrived on scene to find a second story apartment with heavy smoke showing.
First arriving units quickly made an attack to extinguish a fire in the kitchen and search for occupants. While searching, TFD found one person and removed them from the apartment. The occupant was transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities, Leon County EMS and the State Fire Marshal. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
