TPD Locates and Arrests Attempted Murder Suspect (update)

As the investigation continues, TPD is releasing the attached probable cause affidavit for Mia Williams who remains booked into the Leon County Detention Facility. It should be noted that Williams was placed into on custody October 24, 2019 at approximately 6:54 am, and not 5:00am as previously reported.
The victim is still being treated at a hospital and remains in serious condition. TPD’s Victim Advocate Unit continues to assist the victim’s family as they deal with the heinous crime.
Although an arrest has been made, this case remains an active investigation due to the surrounding circumstances with additional charges pending. TPD Locates and Arrests Attempted Murder Suspect, Thursday, October 24, 2019, 8:43 a.m. (update)
TPD officers and investigators have worked throughout the night to locate the suspect in the attempted murder at Taco last night. Mia Williams was taken into custody around 5:00 a.m. this morning in the area of Pensacola Street and White Drive.

TPD Identifies Suspect, Wednesday, October 23 2019, 9:59 p.m. (update)
As the investigation continues, TPD is releasing the suspect’s information and photograph. The suspect has been identified as Mia Williams 32 years of age, who identifies as a black female. Williams was last seen wearing a black shirt with white writing, tan capri styled pants, and a red wrap on her head. Williams also had several necklaces around their neck.

TPD Investigates Attempted Murder on South Monroe Street, Wednesday, October 23 2019, 8:14 p.m. (original post)
At approximately 6:18 p.m. TPD responded to Taco Bell, 2806 South Monroe Street, reference an aggravated battery. Officers discovered that a subject entered the business and doused the victim with gasoline before setting the victim on fire and fleeing the scene on foot. That victim was taken to a hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.
The suspect’s description and picture will be forthcoming.
