When establishing new service, an applicant may receive a deposit waiver by providing a letter of credit from another electric utility, which confirms a payment history of two or more consecutive years. Customers who are unable to pay the entire deposit may be allowed to defer the deposit, or pay the total amount in installments. If the customer does not have the ability to pay the deposit, city staff will make referrals to external agencies that can assist with the payment.
